Intercom

Provide live chat support in your published app.

Intercom is a messaging platform that connects businesses to their customers. By connecting Intercom to your app, you can chat with your users in real time and allow them to send messages to your Intercom inbox when you are not available.

You may need to upgrade your plan. Browse Glide's plans and find the right fit for you.

Adding and Configuring the Action

  1. In your Glide app, open the Settings menu.

  2. In the Integrations menu, choose Intercom and select Add to app. After adding Intercom to your app, you will need to find your Workspace App ID for your Intercom Messenger to appear in your app.

  3. In Intercom, you can find your Workspace App ID by navigating to your Settings. In settings, click General.

  4. Under the heading, Workspace name & time zone, click Copy next to App ID to copy the ID to your clipboard.

  5. Paste the Workspace App ID under Intercom’s settings to complete your set-up.

Intercom Settings to Change

To display Intercom in your Glide app, you'll need to adjust some settings in your Intercom Workspace.

  1. The Messenger needs to be configured to display in your app.

    • Navigate to Settings>Channels>Messenger.

    • Click on Show the Messenger Launcher.

    • Click on Users and make sure Show the Messenger launcher is enabled.

    • Add a display condition for Current page URL that includes your app URL.

    • Click Save and set live.

  2. Glide apps do not support HMAC (Hash-based Message Authentication Code). To have the Intercom Messenger display for signed-in users, follow these steps to ensure HMAC is disabled in Intercom.

    • Navigate to Settings>Workspace>Security.

    • Under Messenger Security Settings, click Identity verification for web users.

    • Scroll to the bottom of the page and turn off Enforce Identity Verification for messenger.

Add Intercom chat to your app

When you add Intercom to a Glide app, the Intercom Messenger will automatically appear in your app for users to interact with. To preview the Intercom Messenger, you will need to publish your app.
