In October, we shipped 42 new features, improvements, and fixes to Glide, including workflows that start the moment your data changes, public apps that don’t make people sign in, four clear roles for admins, and an audit log. The video above covers the highlights, and every change is in the full changelog.

Workflows that start when your data changes

Until October 19, a workflow that reacted to your data had to run on a schedule and check for changes, so it was often a little late. Now, with data triggers, a workflow starts as soon as a row is added, updated, or deleted in one of your tables. To set one up, tell the agent what should happen, for example: “When an order is marked as shipped, email the customer.”

Any change made through Glide starts the workflow: in your app, in the Data tab, by the Glide agent or your own agent over MCP, or by another workflow. Changes from tools connected straight to your database, like a script you wrote, don’t.

Public apps that don’t make people sign in

A public app can now let people sign in only if they want to. Everyone else browses without an account. For example, a supplier could let anyone look through its catalog, and ask customers to sign in to see their own orders. To set this up, ask the agent for a sign-in button.

Everyone who signs in to a published app now sees your app’s icon and name, with Google, Microsoft, and email options.

Getting an app onto a phone is quicker too. The first time you publish an app, Glide shows a QR code that opens it on your phone, with the steps for adding it to your home screen. To find it again later, choose “Open on phone” in the Share panel.

Four roles, and a record of who changed what

Settings now has one Members tab, where everyone in your organization has one of four roles: Owner, Full access, Editor, or Viewer. Each role comes with a one-line description of what it allows, and you pick it when you invite someone.

Admins can also open a new audit log from the organization sidebar, on plans that include it. It shows who changed what, and it now records who was added, removed, or given access.

Smaller improvements and fixes

Each week also brought smaller changes. Here are some of the most useful:

The Data tab open on an Inventory sheet, with the pointer on the plus button and the new column’s name and type fields showing
  • Your recent chats in the sidebar are grouped by project, so it’s easier to pick up where you left off.
  • In the Data tab, you can add a sheet or a column yourself, without asking the agent.
  • Scheduled workflows now try again after a brief error in Glide.
  • The button at the top of your project now shows where your app stands: “Publish” before it first goes live, “Publish changes” when you have edits that aren’t live yet, and “Share” when everything is live.
  • You can upload your own profile photo in Settings.
  • Apps can show the signed-in person’s profile photo instead of their initials. For an existing app, ask the agent to add it.
  • Pages below Home in Glide show a breadcrumb with a Home link.
  • Fixed published apps reloading every few seconds on networks that block live updates.
  • And 27 more improvements and fixes that you can find in the changelog.

We’re also always working on performance, security, and the agent behind the scenes, and that work doesn’t always get its own line.

Coming next: a refresh of Glide’s interface

The team is working on a refresh of Glide’s interface, to improve the way you work with apps and agents. We’ll share more when it’s ready.

We ship changes to Glide every week, and each one is in the changelog. For October, see the weeks of September 28, October 5, October 12, and October 19.
