# Separator

> Add padding above, beneath, or between components.

The **Separator** component lets you add additional vertical spacing between your components. This can be helpful to refine the design of your apps or to add greater emphasis in certain areas.

## Adding a Separator

#### Separator Arcade

In the [Layout Editor](/docs/getting-started/intro-to-layout/), select the tab you want to edit.

Click on the plus (+) symbol in the [Components](/docs/essentials/components/) panel.

Find **Layout** in the menu and select **Separator**.

Select the desired spacing option: **Small, Medium**, or **Large**.

Select **Draw Line** to display a visible line in your separator.
