Team Sierra is a community determined to create a healthy world for all. Together, they’re raising funds to support the Sierra Club's work for the climate, communities, and wildlife.
Over 30,000 people have created a fundraiser or donated to a campaign. Part of the team’s goal was to make it easy for individuals to register and access the tools to raise money.
One of their initiatives is running local events to raise money to protect our planet. Team Sierra wanted to make an accessible way for people to experience nearby nature, learn about local environmental issues, and see the impact of Sierra Club’s work in their city.
Using Glide, they created an app called City Hike. City Hike helps users join self-guided events in Boston and LA with both official routes and a virtual option for people to participate across the nation.
Going from a traditional in-person event to a virtual experience had its challenges. We knew we needed an easy-to-use tool that was user-friendly for supporters with a range of technological experience. Glide is slick and easy to use -- it was exactly what we needed for our reimagined event!
Users can join a featured event as part of a creative community providing new ideas and fun incentives to help raise awareness of how to save the planet. The app helps users choose an event, create a fundraising page, recruit the help and assistance of friends and family so as to grow the Team Sierra community.
The app has proven to be a huge success with the community. It app is helping many new users to explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth. It also guides users on how to practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and resources.
And it educates users on how to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment. Within 5 minutes of signing up, users can make a huge impact, giving users the power to prevent the worst outcomes.
